There are several ways to create an IOST account. This blog post will explore how to create an account for a friend. This blog post has two parts corresponding to the two parties involved: the account owner and his friend.

The account owner applies for an account on the TokenPocket app as seen in the illustration in part one and then forwards his account creation QR code to a friend.

The friend then scans the barcode and pays an account creation fee of 11 IOST to activate the account.

It’s important for the account owner to change his active and owner keys after the account creation process as these keys would be revealed to the friend. I personally find this as a big flaw in this process.

Part One: the account owner

Step 1

Select the IOST Network

Step 2

Click “create by friend”

Step 3

Choose a username

Step 4

Back up your private keys

Step 5

Send your account creation QR code to your friend.

Part Two: the Friend

Step 1

Click on the bar code scanner.

Step 2

Use the scanner to select the barcode sent by the account owner.

Step 3

You'll be charged 11 IOST as account creation fee.
