CDIN Monthly Meet-up, Featuring BOS(the Fastest and Most Advanced EOS.IO Sidechain).
CDIN means Cryptography Development Initiative in Nigeria. They are a Non-Profit Professional Organization founded to address the gaps in the learning and practice of cryptography in Nigeria. They do this by promoting the learning and practice of cryptography, strengthening cybersecurity, aiding digital investigation and promoting the digital economy in Nigeria.
On the 2nd of August, 2019, Africa Community Manager for BOS, Toritseju Kaka(Toju Kaka) was invited as a guest lecturer for CDIN monthly meet-up. He gave an inspiring and profound introductory lecture on EOS.IO and BOS. The Meetup was dedicated to discussing some important features in BOS such as the 3 Seconds LIB, Work Proposals, and Inter-blockchain Communication and also other features of the EOS.IO ecosystems. The meetup was titled: “Understanding BOS, the fastest and most advanced EOS Sidechain”
Mr. Lucky Uwakwe, founder of sabiii.com(most used Cryptocurrency exchange in Africa) moderated the meetup. Some members of CDIN community that attended the meetup includes Mr. Adeolu Falade (President of CDIN), Mr. Olaitan(REECORE), Mr. Bukola, Mr Adebayo Adebajo( Managing Director, Jelurida Africa), Mr. Patrick Smid(EOS Nation Ambassador and CEO of NovaCrypto based in Switzerland), Mrs. Roselyn Wanjiru(Blockchain Consultant based in Kenya).
Mr. John Chamberlain who is a part of the BOS team made also attended the meet-up and contributed to the discussion stressing the significance of BOS 3 Seconds LIb which brings finality to transactions on the chain. Comparing the governance model of bitcoin and the EOS.IO ecosystem, he pointed out that 21 block producers is a perfect balance of decentralization and efficiency/performance.
Mr. Bukola, a member of CDIN who stated that he is in the middle of creating a dApp and is looking for an auspicious platform to build on and not a platform which would be inefficient and cause a need to migrate in the future learned about BOS during the meet-up. BOS is the fastest and most efficient platform to build dApps. We may be seeing a dApp from CDIN on the BOS network very soon.
The meetup was scheduled to last for 45 minutes but things got really interesting as discussions about inflation, the economics of EOS.IO blockchains, centralization, and governance and so forth ignited some useful and educative arguments.
The meet-up was very successful, the discussions were profound and everyone went home with more knowledge and a desire for further research. CDIN has some of the brightest minds in the blockchain industry in Nigeria.
